I'm back! // The Christmas Tag

 I'm back!
Yay
I'm laughing so hard,
can't believe the last time i wrote was June!
Naughty Shell.

I can't eloquently get across how excited i am for Christmas.
SO.FREAKING.EXCITED.
It's our last December in Berlin
*cries*
so we are fully prepared to go to every single market,
drink every sip of glühwein,
and stuff every last crumb of stollen in and around our faces.

I've seen this post on my feed a lot and it's been so lovely reading everyone's memories
and thoughts and getting a small insight into their Christmas,
i couldn't not join in!

1. What is your favourite Christmas Movie/s?
THERE ARE TOO MANY!
Muppet Christmas Carol
Elf
The Grinch
Miracle on 34th Street ['94]

There are so many more but these are my absolute favourites,
i've been watching the muppets and miracle since the early 90's,
[wah so old]
they are imprinted onto my heart.

2. Do you open your presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning?
Growing up in Germany we exchanged presents on the 24th,
so since moving to the UK my parents started a new tradition where my sister and i
got a present from the Christkindl
[always pyjamas]
but then opened our actual presents from each other on the 25th.
We still do that to this day even though we've both moved away from home!

3. Do you have a favourite Christmas memory?
When i was younger nana's sister would take my cousins, my sister and i
to go the Palace in Manchester to see the christmas show.
We'd get McDonalds and then go back to my nan's and put on our own version
of whatever show we'd just been to see.
My favourite was The Snow Queen.

Oh my god.
We were so annoying.

4. Favourite festive food?
Baileys.
No no, i'm just kidding,
that's not a food.

I love Christmas because there's this unwritten rule where you can shamelessly eat
as much buffet whenever you want.
Crisps, twiglets, cheeselets.

My favourite part of Christmas dinner?
Pigs in blankets!
*violently drools*
Try and stop me.

5. Favourite Christmas gift ?
I loved the theatre tickets each year.
I got a furby the year they came out which came as a surprise.
We didn't really have stuff like that,
popular toys/consoles etc.
I was so happy.

6. Favourite Christmas scent?
Cinnamon.
And baileys.

7. Do you have any Christmas Eve traditions?
Christmas eve is always at my parents house.
I spend all day shopping, baking, and making the buffet with my mum.
My boyfriend and his parents come round, as does my sister and her fiancee,
we eat and drink
[baileys]
and play cranium.
We've recently started a new tradition where each couple buys a decoration
and we do a swap.
The [actual] grown ups don't know this but me and my sister have been playing
"who can buy the ugliest decoration"
for the past two years.
Unfortunately for them they always get our ugly baubles!

8. What tops your tree?
At my parents house we used to have this ugly old fairy/angel thing that my mum hated,
last year it got 'lost',
and now i think it's just a big bow.
For our Berlin tree we have a giant star,
nothing sentimental, i am however on the lookout for a nice something.

9. As a kid what was the one (crazy, wild, extravagant) gift you always asked for but never received?
Spice Girls polaroid.
My best friend got one and i was so jealous.
After a point it didn't have to be a Spice Girls one,
i just wanted a polaroid.

Years later i have a camera obsession :-/
I blame my parents!

10. What's the best part about Christmas for you?
Spending it at home!
Being in Berlin is really lonely for a homebody.
December is the best because it means i get to go home and see my family,
give them presents i've chosen and wrapped,
and there's that general Christmas feeling which makes everything feel even more homely.
It's truly my favourite time of year.

Don't cry for me being in Berlin though,
i love the snow and i'm spoilt with the markets!

Now i tag YOU!!
If you have a blog and you haven't already done it do it!
So fun :)

Boo!!

As every blogger before me has said,
"sometimes life gets in the way and you need to take a step back"
end quote, ha.

In all honestly, i couldn't find the energy.
I couldn't think of anything i wanted to write,
i've not read any blogs since i last posted.
Rubbish me!

In all fairness though my life got a bit busy.
I took part in an all girl exhibition,
my friends came to Berlin to stay for a few days,
i had a very exciting business offer,
[more on that in a bit, squeee]
i've been making things for my etsy shop.
and breathe.

My wall for the exhibition.
One thing i realised about my work whilst hanging it was i make
a lot of text based drawings.
Which is in no way a bad thing,
but pretty overwhelming when all my pieces are together.

A little girl made me cry on the night,
[and every now and then since lets be honest!]
i was told that she loved my work bcos Jaqueline Wilson is her
favourite author and she loves the books.
Which excited me bcos i love her too.
Then i cried because this little girl made my life.

People were seeking me out to tell me they liked my stuff,
and i was in the room when people were walking in and commenting
about how they like it.
Best ever feeling.

If i ever doubt myself again i just have to think back to this night.
I was surrounded by beautiful people,
beautiful art,
and beautiful drunk friends.
It was my favourite night in a long time.

In June i discovered and mastered summer rolls.
YUM.

Ah our annual eurovision feast,
was a good one this year, the show and the food,
still laughing about the hosts getting Graham in the booth with confetti.
Frenemies <3

Got a new bbq,
it's amazing,
super easy to carry to the park,
super easy to light.

BBQ!
I seriously have the best intentions to go veggie again some time
but then i remember sausages
and i'm german, i fucking love sausages.
[that's what she said]

Ramones museum, been here a million times,
[over exaggeration]
and i fully recommend it.
[......if you like the ramones]

LOL.

Whenever i'm home i love sitting in my mums garden and listening to the bees buzz.
I wish people were more serious about saving them,
if they die, we die!
They're so important, and so cute!

Did me some drawing whilst waiting for my, once again, delayed plane.

Sorry i disappeared,
speak soon!

Still old.

So here it is,
part two of my birthday treats.
I feel so lucky to have such amazing people in my life.
They all know me so well.

My sister and i are obsessed with the emperor's new groove,
we quote it to each other all the time.
LLAMA FAAACE.

I've recently got into reading comics,
not superhero comics,
there are others!!
I didn't know this, lol, felt well stupid when i discovered them,
i was enlightened.
Tank Girl is my hero, i love her,
have you seen the film?
Go watch it!

Another obsession.
Ace Ventura.
My boyfriend and i have so many heated discussions about which is better,
The first one, or the second one.
*ahem-when nature calls*
I want to marry Jim Carrey though.
Seriously.
Send him my way.

So....i've realised that a lot of the things i am into are based on tv shows or films...
what does that say about me!?
Breaking bad pins are never a bad thing.
I love wood engraving and burning so think these are to die for.
TO DIE FOR.
My friend got me my own personal rocket,
so i can escape when i need to and immerse myself in the wonder that is the universe.

If you're not interested in my birthday haul then i'm sorry,
for me though, seeing what people got for their birthday or christmas is my favourite kind of post!
Mainly because i always discover new things,
new shops, new artists.
Because i read blogs that interest me, i always find i connect to the person a little more
after seeing what they get from people who know them.

So...onto the big debate...
Ace Ventura or Ace Ventura:When Nature Calls?

AND WHY!?!?!?

A couple of extras from my ipad...
Boyfriend thought it would be hilarious to get me a Tororo onesie.
Joke's on him because i'm never taking it off.

Also got a new head protector for summer,
my ice hockey team, Boston Bruins.

Twenty something...

Hey guys,
i've been super busy this past few weeks!
Some exciting things in the pipeline,
can't wait to share all!!

A couple of weeks ago though i had a birthday,
a hideous one,
i turned 28.
*SCREAMS*
I have officially entered the late 20's and it is horrifying.
I can't believe how quick time flies.
I remember turning 10 like it was yesterday.
So weird that i'm now 28.
I still haven't processed it, it's not hit me!

Anyway, as a treat i got to fly home the day after my birthday for a week in Warrington
YAAAY!
I had a really nice actual day of birth,
me and my boyfriend got up and had cereal,
opened some presents,
and then went to the mall with birthday monies.

Here's some photos from my Berlin birthday :)

I made some red velvets with cream cheese frosting.
I love Claire from french for cupcake and she always makes the most intense cakes.
She was my absolute inspiration for these gorgeous little cakes!

My absolute hero, Marc Johns,
and space.

Super cute sign from my parents >.<

A couple more parental treats.

I've been coveting these for SO LONG.

So kawai!

Bless his heart,
he wanted to get me a 'fancy' jumper.

This illustration sums up how i approach sales.

Yay!

I've really gotten into comics lately.

THIS IS THE BEST EVER!
They're teeny tiny lenses for my phone/ipad.
[i don't have an iphone waah]
One's a fisheye and the other is a wide angle/macro.
So good, apparently cheap too,
about a fiver on amazon.

That's what i got from others,
onto my mall treats!

Aaaaaah super cutie cute face!

I swear i feel like Cher when i write with this pencil.
So fun!

Adding to my 'lipsticks that i never really use' collection.

So yeah, i'm really sorry it's been so long since i last wrote.
I went home for a week and didn't really take many pictures or have much to say.
Since being back i've kind of figured things out.
I've been working hard researching certain things and reaching out to people.

I'll save that for another post though.

Tomorrow i'll share part two of my birthday trip,
what happened in Warrington.

Going full circle.

Born in Germany.
Moved to England.
Moved back to Germany,
moving back to England.

The perfect ratio,
a circle,
symmetry of life etc.

I am most definitely not perfect,
i almost certainly don't have it all figured out.
Hah! Not even close.
But small things like this symmetry make me happy,
make me feel as complete as the circle.

In my unintentional break from blogging i seem to have taken a break from taking pictures.
this isn't like me.
I love taking photos of things that i'm drawn to.
When i regularly took time to blog,
i noticed i took a lot more pictures,
i took my digital camera everywhere.
When my blog took a backseat, so did my picture taking.

It has made me determined to get back into blogging.

The more pictures i take, the more reason to blog.
I loooove looking at people's photos,
i enjoy seeing someone else's take on things,
i like to think that people enjoy looking at what i have to show also.

I still don't know what kind of a blogger i am.
I couldn't even tell you [without looking] when i started this or what my first post was.
I think it was a couple of years ago, in the 2nd flat we had in berlin.
I can guarantee it's cringe inducing though!

I'm not a fashion blogger.
I can say that with certainty.
Maybe i'll be having a good day once in a while and i'll sneak in an outfit photo,
but i promise you, that won't happen often!
I pretty much live in 'comfy' pants and jumpers.
The photos would get repetitive and boring, trust me!

I'm not a beauty blogger either.
I tend to buy make up, face wash etc,
take a bunch of photos,
then forget about posting anything bcos i don't wear make up often.
Ooops.

I cringe to call myself a lifestyle blog,
especially when i look at my life and what i do in a day.
I'm so uncool ha!

I mainly enjoy taking pictures of things that make me smile,
or that i find funny or interesting,
and sharing them with you guys,
but i don't like to call myself a photographer!

After much thinking, probably too much lol,
i think i've found that i like to think of my blog as a [very] edited diary of sorts,
and who doesn't want to read someone's diary!?

I don't know what compelled me to write this,
i think i just fancied letting you know where my head's been.

Thanks for reading :)

And then something just clicks...

Hey guys!
Sorry i've been a bit absent lately,
been having a bit of an identity crisis.

I seem to have beaten it,
i don't know what happened,
i just woke up one morning, and something just clicked.

So here's what i've been up to.

If you guys want to look at my other stuff you can find it on my tumblr...

^-^

I am working on a few beauty and life posts for y'alls,
patience is a virtue!
