Boo!!

As every blogger before me has said,
"sometimes life gets in the way and you need to take a step back"
end quote, ha.

In all honestly, i couldn't find the energy.
I couldn't think of anything i wanted to write,
i've not read any blogs since i last posted.
Rubbish me!

In all fairness though my life got a bit busy.
I took part in an all girl exhibition,
my friends came to Berlin to stay for a few days,
i had a very exciting business offer,
[more on that in a bit, squeee]
i've been making things for my etsy shop.
and breathe.

My wall for the exhibition.
One thing i realised about my work whilst hanging it was i make
a lot of text based drawings.
Which is in no way a bad thing,
but pretty overwhelming when all my pieces are together.

A little girl made me cry on the night,
[and every now and then since lets be honest!]
i was told that she loved my work bcos Jaqueline Wilson is her
favourite author and she loves the books.
Which excited me bcos i love her too.
Then i cried because this little girl made my life.

People were seeking me out to tell me they liked my stuff,
and i was in the room when people were walking in and commenting
about how they like it.
Best ever feeling.

If i ever doubt myself again i just have to think back to this night.
I was surrounded by beautiful people,
beautiful art,
and beautiful drunk friends.
It was my favourite night in a long time.

In June i discovered and mastered summer rolls.
YUM.

Ah our annual eurovision feast,
was a good one this year, the show and the food,
still laughing about the hosts getting Graham in the booth with confetti.
Frenemies <3

Got a new bbq,
it's amazing,
super easy to carry to the park,
super easy to light.

BBQ!
I seriously have the best intentions to go veggie again some time
but then i remember sausages
and i'm german, i fucking love sausages.
[that's what she said]

Ramones museum, been here a million times,
[over exaggeration]
and i fully recommend it.
[......if you like the ramones]

LOL.

Whenever i'm home i love sitting in my mums garden and listening to the bees buzz.
I wish people were more serious about saving them,
if they die, we die!
They're so important, and so cute!

Did me some drawing whilst waiting for my, once again, delayed plane.

Sorry i disappeared,
speak soon!

Feel the fear and do it anyway.

That's a quote right??
I'm pretty sure i read that somewhere...

So this week i did something i've been wanting to do for years,
i made an artists page for myself on facebook,
EEK.

Mega scary, but i bit the bullet and i did it!

I'm still scared,
still filled with self doubt,
but this little step has been incredible for me.

I feel like everything has fallen into place.
I want to do this,
i want to open an etsy shop,
i want to draw!
I want people to enjoy my creations and laugh along with me.

This may not seem a big deal to most people,
but to anyone struggling with not knowing where they want to be in life,
what they want to 'do',
anyone with anxieties and depression,
any introverts...
you get it right?

These are a few of my newer drawings.
The achievement rosettes are part of a series to do with everyday successes.
You will find more work on my new page,
wink wink,
over HERE on facebook!
[aggressive link text lol]

If you like it, please like it.
Share it even.
It would mean the absolute world to me to get to 100 likes by this time next week.
I'll be holding a giveaway when i get to 100 likes for a print of your choice,
YEAH BITCH, FREE PRINT!

Hope everyone's having a good sunday,
especially you mums!

Womanstanley - The Exhibition.

I'm part of a group of [amazing] artists called Womanstanley
[go like us!]
and we're holding an exhibition in June
GRRRL POWER!!

The poster was designed by one of my favourite female artists Sophie New.
Her work is a dream and exactly my kind of art.
Love.Her.

This is going to be my first ever exhibition.
Seeing as i am still [and forever] on hiatus for my degree i haven't had a final degree.
WAH.
So i have no idea what i'm doing.
The worst of it is i can't even be in Warrington when it's going on.
DRAMAAA!
I'm back in May so i need to get really organised and decide what i want to exhibit,
get some business cards printed,
sort out my shop,
frame my chosen drawings.

So.Much.To.Do.

[btw i'm such a geek, whilst writing this i'm listening to Les Mis videos from you tube,
'without me, his world will go on turniiiiing'
obsessed with the music in this play]

The thought of putting my work out there fills me with dread.
I've only recently become comfortable with myself,
with my style and my drawings.
I just hope they are well received and that people who like this style,
like my work and get in touch.
I'm shy in person but i'm cool with hiding behind a laptop :)

I'm sure i'll be posting about the exhibition prep,
shop stuff,
new drawings etc.

I'm also thinking of making a FB page for me as an artist.
*adds more onto to do list*

Twenty something...

Hey guys,
i've been super busy this past few weeks!
Some exciting things in the pipeline,
can't wait to share all!!

A couple of weeks ago though i had a birthday,
a hideous one,
i turned 28.
*SCREAMS*
I have officially entered the late 20's and it is horrifying.
I can't believe how quick time flies.
I remember turning 10 like it was yesterday.
So weird that i'm now 28.
I still haven't processed it, it's not hit me!

Anyway, as a treat i got to fly home the day after my birthday for a week in Warrington
YAAAY!
I had a really nice actual day of birth,
me and my boyfriend got up and had cereal,
opened some presents,
and then went to the mall with birthday monies.

Here's some photos from my Berlin birthday :)

I made some red velvets with cream cheese frosting.
I love Claire from french for cupcake and she always makes the most intense cakes.
She was my absolute inspiration for these gorgeous little cakes!

My absolute hero, Marc Johns,
and space.

Super cute sign from my parents >.<

A couple more parental treats.

I've been coveting these for SO LONG.

So kawai!

Bless his heart,
he wanted to get me a 'fancy' jumper.

This illustration sums up how i approach sales.

Yay!

I've really gotten into comics lately.

THIS IS THE BEST EVER!
They're teeny tiny lenses for my phone/ipad.
[i don't have an iphone waah]
One's a fisheye and the other is a wide angle/macro.
So good, apparently cheap too,
about a fiver on amazon.

That's what i got from others,
onto my mall treats!

Aaaaaah super cutie cute face!

I swear i feel like Cher when i write with this pencil.
So fun!

Adding to my 'lipsticks that i never really use' collection.

So yeah, i'm really sorry it's been so long since i last wrote.
I went home for a week and didn't really take many pictures or have much to say.
Since being back i've kind of figured things out.
I've been working hard researching certain things and reaching out to people.

I'll save that for another post though.

Tomorrow i'll share part two of my birthday trip,
what happened in Warrington.

Tattoo Tuesday!

When it comes to tattoos i have a wish list as long as my arm.
It usually takes me weeks to decide on a design.
I know what i want,
but making the choice is difficult.
Where should i get it,
how big do i want it,
who do i want to do it etc etc.

Every so often though i get a flash of inspiration and i can decide my next tattoo in a day.

When i knew i was coming home i decided i wanted a new tattoo.
I had some money in my bank,
why not.
Once the thought is there, it's hard to 'un-decide'!

I was sitting thinking about things i like.
All of a sudden it came to me...
cameras!

I wanted a really simple illustration of a camera on my arm...
only problem,
i already had a small tattoo there from a few years ago.
Now, i like this tattoo.
I was never intending to get a big tattoo on my right arm,
because my left arm has a semi sleeve.
But i really loved this camera idea and i wanted to be able to see it.
So the small one had to be sacrificed.

*cries*

It's ok though, can easily be put somewhere else.
I booked my appointment with an amazing upcoming female artist who has tattooed quite a few people i know.
Cherub at Skin Kandi in St.Helens.
We had a pretty intense 5 hour session geeking out about many things including,
the song of ice and fire series,
the amazing talent that is Rachel Baldwin,
and Despicable Me.

It turned out a little different to how i initially imagined it,
because the old tattoo had to be covered properly,
but i am so in love with my new piece!

The placement of my old tattoo.
So awkward!
It's a Kate Nash song if you're wondering.

Plotting the cover up.
This was after the outline was finished.
14needle needle.
OW!
I'm really good with pain and tattoos but with being ill,
and having had 3 hours sleep due to my disastrous journey home the night before,
it was not a good day for me!

The beauty that is my new tattoo :)

It's healing at the minute.
Starting to crack in a few places because it's on my right arm,
that i use all of the time.
So annoying but hey, it's getting there.

Luckily i'm on anti-biotics for my sinuses so i think that's helping the healing!

Think i might make tattoo tuesday a regular feature,
show you guys a different tattoo each week and the story behind it...
if it has a story!

Analog #3

Some photos i took with my trusty Minolta while in England.

The first few are from my mum's birthday, the rest from a trip to Lymm.

When i went to get these developed they guy offered to put them on a cd for an extra quid.
I was like, hells yeah!
So i pick them up, load the cd into my [very old] mac and.....
....nothing.

Darn it!
So i resigned myself to taking pictures of pictures again.
Took all 36x2 [maths is too much] photos then had a thought.
"i wonder if the cd works in the new mac"
Patiently load.
Oh look...
There are all the photos i just took pictures of the last 30 minutes.

*cries*
